Project Overview

For this project, we implemented advanced tracking solutions for a supplement brand using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Facebook Conversion API (CAPI). Objectives

The main goals of this project were:

Ensure key events such as purchases, form submissions, and add-to-carts were tracked without data loss.

Set up server-side tracking to recover data lost due to browser restrictions (iOS14 and ad blockers).

  • GA4 Custom Configuration

Tailor GA4 implementation to track user journey, revenue, and conversion paths in-depth.

  • Boost Retargeting Precision

Provide higher-quality data to ad platforms to enhance retargeting and audience creation.

Approach

  • Tracking Audit & Strategy

Conducted a full audit of the existing GA and Pixel setup, identifying gaps and inconsistencies in conversion data.

  • GA4 Setup & Custom Events
  • Installed GA4 via Google Tag Manager.

  • Configured custom events like checkout steps, scroll tracking, and click-to-call.

  • Enabled enhanced eCommerce and cross-domain tracking.

  • Facebook CAPI Integration
  • Implemented Facebook CAPI using GTM server container and verified with Event Match Quality.

  • Synced key events (ViewContent, InitiateCheckout, Purchase) for better ad attribution.

  • Data Layer Implementation

Used a structured data layer to ensure consistent, reliable data capture from Shopify store.

  • Testing & QA

Ran tests in GTM, Facebook Events Manager, and GA4 Debug View to validate all event flows.

Results

  • 95% Event Accuracy Rate: Nearly perfect event matching across platforms.
  • 9.5/10 Event Match Quality: Facebook Pixel + CAPI setup reached top-tier score.
  • +25% ROAS Improvement: Improved data quality resulted in better ad optimization.
